Many homeowners assume they have to remodel their kitchen to add more space if they wish to put new components in this space. While this may be the only option in some situations, it's commonly not actually the case. Getting creative can allow you to overhaul your kitchen space without the need for any actual construction.
One example of a cool way to change your kitchen without construction is a moving island. The kitchen is a great place for families to spend time together. When kids come home in the afternoon, the kitchen offers a space for parents and kids to be around each other. Parents can prepare dinner while kids work on their homework.
An island is perfect for giving kids a place to do homework while being near their parents. The only problem with an island is it can take up quite a bit of space. You may be worried that an island is going to get in the way when you have a large meal to prepare or have lots of people over.
This issue can be solved with a moving island. It's possible for a kitchen island to be put on wheels. The wheels can be locked in position when the island's in a central part of the kitchen.
When you are not using the island and you need more space to move around, you can just easily move the island to the wall or even against a countertop. It's possible to cut a subtle groove in a counter and in an island so that the two will be line up whenever the kitchen island is moved.
Create a Useful Ledge with a Tuckaway
Each area of your kitchen needs counter space. The space around your sink, stove and by your refrigerator all serve different purposes. This need for additional counter space might make you feel like you don't have any room for a cutting board inside your kitchen. You may also wish that you're laptop was just within your reach when you're cooking so that you'll be able to check recipes online.
You can add either component to your kitchen without taking up additional counter space. This is accomplished by adding a tuckaway element. This can be added to an island or other parts of your kitchen. When you need a cutting board or space to set your laptop, simply slide out the tuckaway ledge. When you're done, slide it back in and it's out of your way until you need it again.
Doing Laundry in Your Kitchen?
Do you wish you could do laundry without trudging across your home or all the way down to the basement? It's actually possible for you to add a washer and dryer to the kitchen.
While you may think that it's a crazy idea, it's a lot easier than it seems to be. A front-loading washer and dryer can be installed under a ledge or another counter in your kitchen. Because you obviously don't want these machines exposed, custom cabinetry can be built to conceal their appearance. This gives you easy access to doing laundry without taking up additional space or adding anything unsightly to your kitchen.
