Tractors are used to pull attachments and implements. The size of the tractor depends on the size of the job. For light work a smaller tractor may be able to handle all of the needs, but for a larger project a more powerful tractor will be a must. It should have a 3-point hitch and Power Take Off (PTO) whose purpose is to operate devices attached to the tractor.
A box blade is used for dragging and sculpting. Gravel driveways regularly need this device to smooth out those areas where the rain has caused a depression or pot hole. It attaches at the rear of the tractor and is connected to the 3-point hitch, which raises and lowers the unit to the desired height of operation. The box blade can also be equipped with metal tines that dig into the earth or gravel and loosen it up to make it easier to smooth out the surface.
A front end loader attaches to the front of the tractor. These are the big buckets which are seen hauling dirt, gravel and other loose materials such as compost. They can also be used for light dozing work where only a small amount of surface area needs to be trimmed down. Hydraulic hoses are connected to the rear of the tractor to allow the bucket to be raised and lowered as needed.
Mowers and tillers are important when it comes to lawn care. Large facilities like golf courses can have hundreds of acres of grass which must be kept mowed. The mower attaches to the rear of the tractor, or underneath, and the shaft that turns the mower blades is connected to the power take off. It is raised and lowered by hydraulics.
Lawn rollers, power rakes, thatchers and aerators are vital tools in keeping things beautiful. Lawns may need rolling at least once each year, and power rakes make an easy job of cleaning up after using the mower. Thatchers and aerators are used to help keep the roots supplied with plenty of exposure to the air.
Sprayers, lawn edgers, weed trimmers, and top dressers help in maintenance. Sprayers can be mounted to a tractor where large areas need liquid fertilizers, or spot weed killing. Lawn edgers and weed trimmers are used around buildings and walkways to keep the grasses trimmed down to finish out a nice even look of lawn care.
Landscape equipment is used to keep both industrial and residential properties looking as if they were made for the pictures seen in magazines. With the right combination of tractors, attachments and other implements, it is possible to have a lawn that will be the envy of all passersby. It might be a good time to take a look at what is offered to help in keeping your yard looking beautiful, year round.
