You should be extremely proud of yourself for sticking to your fitness plan. You should also be happy with your improved body. While you do enjoy the compliments you receive from others, you are unable to fully enjoy what is now yours. The reason your life isn't exactly what you envisioned at this point is because you're terrified of gaining back all the weight. Although you've come so far, you know it could all go away if you slip back into your old ways.
The good news is you're not alone in feeling this way. Most people get surprised when they still feel anxious even when they have reached their goal weight. The good news just doesn't end there. It is possible to eliminate this anxiety by finding a way to ensure your weight loss sticks.
You Learned a Lot
Changing the way you eat and adding exercise to your life normally helps people lose around 10 pounds in their first thirty days. While this is just four weeks, going through this process teaches you a lot. It makes you re-evaluate many of the habits you've had for so long.
As you are losing 20, 40, 60 or however many pounds you lose to reach your goal, you are still learning. You find ways to deal with obstacles. You continue to expand your knowledge of food and exercise.
Reaching your weight loss goal not only results in a slimmer and healthier body, but also a mind packed with knowledge about how to get the body you want.
Maintain Your Weight Loss by Sharing
Studies have shown writing and teaching are the best ways to make knowledge stick for the long-term. This same concept applies to weight loss. You can ensure your old ways don't sneak up and sabotage your gains by sharing what you've learned with others.
Whether it's a friend, family member or stranger online, take the knowledge you now possess and help someone start down the path of reaching their own goal.
Saying that having a mentor or a teacher will really help you in so many ways. The first is it will reinforce everything you've learned. Actively talking about eating right and working out will keep that information fresh in your mind.
Taking on this role will also give you motivation. Wanting to set an example for someone else will prevent you from slacking off and losing the progress you've made.
Helping out somebody has a good feeling inside. As you've learned during your weight loss journey, feeling good about yourself is one of the most important aspects of having a healthy relationship with food.
