One Year Degrees
There are LVN or LPN classes that you can get at a technical college or a community college in as little as a year. There are even some medical facilities that will offer training for those interested in the nursing field. There are some states and colleges that have pre-requisite classes that will need to be completed before you can begin your core training. These classes could include anatomy and physiology as well as English and Sciences. Courses that are covered with an LPN certificate include math, surgical concepts, pharmacology, nursing fundamentals, nutrition, pediatrics and obstetrics, pathophysiology, and also bodily functions.
2 Year Degree Programs
This is perhaps one of the more common paths many nursing students take. An Associate's in Applied Science is two years, and can get your foot in the door of the medical field as well. You will find that there are clinical hours needed while training and typically, the program consists of 72 hours, and in some states it can be more or less. You will receive similar courses as with the LPN certificate program and also courses such as chemistry, mental health, general psychology, and 16 hours of clinical training.
4 Year Degree Programs
A Bachelor's in Nursing is going to be required by several facilities in order to work as an RN. This path can open more opportunities and doors for nursing students. There is a 2 year RN as well as a 4 year BSN. There are several colleges that offer these courses to interested students. Some programs will give students credit if they are receiving on the job training and there are even evening classes or weekend classes to allow for more convenience.
There are also Master's and Doctorate degrees in the nursing field. These are primarily designed for students who are interested in teaching nursing to other students and are looking for those interested in research based careers. A career in Nursing is a valuable choice and nursing courses can help you get to where you want to be in the medical field.
