Once accredited by OLGR the RTO can provide to trainees a QLD RSA certificate and a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol unit of competency. The Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol is the RSA course but to receive the QLD specific RSA certificate, the provider must be accredited to deliver the unit within Queensland.
The Statement of Attainment is recognised in the Northern Territory and Western Australia as an RSA certification, and in part in South Australia and Victoria. Tasmania, the ACT and New South Wales have the same requirement as Queensland's OLGR - their liquor authority must first accredit the RTO before it can provide the Tasmanian, ACT or NSW RSA certificate.
RTOs can provide this training online or in person, in a traditional classroom-type setting. Online and offline, the RSA training will contain the exact same course content and modules. The main difference is that online the course can take three hours to complete, while in person training can take up to six hours to finish. Online offers you the convenience of being able to choose when and where you complete your RSA training.
You're able to slot the course in around your existing commitments because it's available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can also complete the RSA training online in different sittings, if you were to log off and come back to it at another time the course will pick up where you left off. There are live chat help functions and frequently asked questions on the RSA training websites for trouble shooting purposes and if you have a question about the content.
At the end of the RSA training you're simply able to print out your RSA Queensland certificate and the Statement of Attainment. OLGR and the Federal Government's National Training Information Service (NTIS) both provide an extensive list, available online, of all RTOs that are accredited to deliver the QLD RSA certificate and Statement of Attainment within Queensland.
In person the RTO staff member is there to ask questions of and direct your learning, which could potentially work better for those who aren't electronic natives, are uncomfortable in online learning environments or simply have trouble focusing. In person RSA course providers are also listed through OLGR and NTIS.
